On the 29th of May 2021, we hosted our very first virtual Sip and Bake Annual Gala to award our high potential women and raise funds for our cause.  Our event was attended by our Board Members, our US and SA community and most importantly the phenomenal women of WEE. 

Our women were awarded in the following categories: 

Collaborative Award-  Kamogelo Mopai, Khethiwe Mbongwa and Siba Gcilitshana received this award as a result of their collaborative spirit and how they have competitively used collaboration to amplify their personal care businesses. 

Perseverance Award - Palmira Da Silva was awarded the Perseverance award as a result of her ability to make strides for her business that is in the male-dominated and tough field of realty. 

Influence Award - Nolwazi is the Co-Founder of Olwethu Crafts, a business that was born out of Covid, has already signed their first international deal and is in the works to collaborate with a well-known South African celebrity. If influence had a face, it would definitely look like Olwethu Crafts!

Conquer Award- An attorney by profession, Nzwi Dyirakumunda decided to follow her passion for flowers and open her first business Akanaka Bloom. Akanaka Bloom was named in commemoration of her angel baby and is set to take over the florist industry.

Innovation Award - Set in her home village Gavaza Limpopo, Nkateko is the proud owner of MrsAngelics Creations. Through her bakery, Nkateko has managed to provide her village with some of the best-personalised cakes and an opportunity for her village to partake in her baking classes. She is the first in her village to offer this service and is making a name for herself.  

Diversify Award - Phophi Ntlama is the QUEEN of diversification and operates within the fields of farming, logistics as well as events management. Her business Nosimelo Group is a key game-changer and has secured a 5-year logistics contract worth R600K.

Impact Award - Each one, Teach one, Gadifele Marota is using her expertise and passion for youth development through her NGO, Do Me A Favour. Do Me A Favour operates in 7 of our 9 provinces and assists students from rural South Africa with online tertiary, NSFAs, and bursary applications. 

Milestone Award - Portia Gumede is the owner of Koti SA traditional wear specialists. Wedding preparations can be such a nightmare and Koti SAis your one-stop shop for all your wedding requirements. Koti SA was founded in the year 2015 and in 2020 they celebrated achieving making their first R1 million.
